Reframing Negotiation: A positive approach to getting what you want
Negotiation is an art. Although it may be commonly associated with the workplace, in fact, negotiation is useful in all aspects of life. In this workshop, we will share concrete action and real stories to help you recognize and to build the skills you need to negotiate in a professional manner. A suggestion of things to negotiate in both academic and non-academic jobs will be shared

-Learn the general elements of a cooperative negotiation
-Practice negotiation out loud
-Develop the confidence to negotiate small and big things that matter to you
Niem Huynh Geographer. Inquirer. Risk taker (calculated). She is an educator and geographer by training and applies those skills to her role as Manager of Graduate Student Recruitment at Concordia University. Niem's diverse professional experience working in different positions within the university and non-profit sectors has ignited her interest in how people navigate their career paths and the role of soft skills (e.g., networking, negotiating, public speaking) in the process. She has been invited to give talks on these topics in the community and also academic circles for students and job seekers.
