ANOVA and regression
Workshop series
Computational and Data Systems Initiative
Linear regression is one of the most widely used statistical tools to study dependence between variables. It can be used to answer questions such as: Does class size have an impact on success of students? Are age and cholesterol related to each other? In this workshop, you will learn how to measure the strength of such relationships and summarize observed data as simply and usefully as possible with the help of linear regression and analysis of variance.Ìý
At the end of this workshop, you will be able to
ÌýÌýÌýÌý > Apply the least-squares method to fit a regression line to observed data
ÌýÌýÌýÌý > Perform diagnostics to check if the model works well for the data at hand
ÌýÌýÌýÌý > Predict individual outcomes given covariate values and compute prediction intervals
ÌýÌýÌýÌý > Produce and interpret an ANalysis-Of-VAriance (ANOVA) table
Pre-requisites? Basic familiarity with the software R
