The holiday season presents many unique challenges for people who are trying to manage their weight. Parties, special occasions and family gatherings often are a problem because overeating is encouraged.  In addition, December and January are dark and cool months in Canada, which generally causes people to cut back on their physical activity. Strategies are needed to help people maintain healthy behaviours through the holiday season: The objectives of this Scientific Café are to explore strategies that will help attendees manage their weight throughout the busy holiday season.  Discussion will take place around how to have fun at the same time as keeping the reins on eating habits.  We will also address strategies for remaining physically active at a time when fitting workouts into hectic schedules is hard.  Half of the time (approximately 1 hour) for the evening session will be scheduled to allow for audience participation and discussion.  This seminar is sponsored by the Canadian Institute for Health Research (CIHR) and Â鶹AV and is open to the public at no charge.  Faculty from Â鶹AV and the University of Massachusetts will lead the discussions.  Light refreshments will be served.  This event is limited to 100 people.
