Published: 18 November 2007

The Faculty of Law was delighted to learn that the official launch of the doctoral dissertation of alumnus Charles-Emmanuel Côté (DCL 2006, Dean's Honour List) was held at the Salon du livre de Montréal, on November 16, 2007.

His dissertation, The participation of private persons in the settlement of international economic disputes: the enlargement of legal standing in the WTO, was recently awarded a "special mention" by the jury of the Institute of World Business Law Prize of the ICC in Paris. The jury made particular mention of the depth of the research and the quality of the writing of Dr. Côté's thesis.

Charles-Emmanuel Côté's book, co-published by Bruylant and Yvon Blais, explores the judicial questions surrounding the participation of individuals, private businesses and NGOs in the settlement of international economic disputes, by studying the issue of the widening right to lodge a complaint at the World Trade Organization.
