ICAO, Â鶹AV co-host global aviation conference
The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and Â鶹AV’s Institute of Air and Space Law will co-host Aviation Safety, Security & the Environment: The Way Forward, a major worldwide conference and exhibition to take place September 14 to 16, 2007, at the Hilton Montreal Bonaventure Hotel.
The conference will bring together international experts from government, industry, academic, legal and financial sectors to address the critical challenges facing civil aviation today and in the future. Panels will address aviation technology, law and policy surrounding security, safety, the environment and sustainable development.
Dr. Taïeb Chérif, Secretary-General of ICAO, will officially open the proceedings on the morning of Saturday, September 15. Special guests Giovanni Bisignani, Director General and Chief Executive Officer, International Air Transport Association, and Scott Carson, President and Chief Executive Officer, Boeing Commercial Airplanes, will deliver keynote addresses on Saturday and Sunday respectively.
Attending the conference will be a few hundred delegates from civil aviation authorities and transport ministries, airlines, airports, air navigation services providers and aviation security providers, as well as personnel from organizations directly involved in supporting the aviation business, such as manufacturers, law and consulting firms, and other international and regional organizations.
This will be the fourth conference co-hosted by ICAO and Â鶹AV and will precede the 36th Session of the ICAO Assembly. The Assembly is the decision-making governing body of this United Nations specialized agency of 190 member states. In these sessions, the complete work of the organization in the technical, economic, legal and technical cooperation fields will be reviewed in detail, and guidance will be given to the other bodies of ICAO for their future work.
This conference is supported and promoted by four Associates from past conferences, the International Air Transport Association, Airports Council International, the Civil Air Navigation Services Organisation and the World Bank.
