Â鶹AV professor nationally recognized with 3M Teaching Fellowship
Â鶹AV's Faculty of Law is proud to announce that tax law expert Kim Brooks is one of ten professors from across the country selected for Canada's most prestigious university teaching awards, the 3M National Teaching Fellowships.
Her subject, tax law, might not sound exciting to everyone. But Professor Brooks' passion for the subject is contagious - and her student evaluations are loaded with praise for her ability to engage her pupils fully in the subject matter.
Brooks likens learning tax law to seeing Bruce Springsteen in concert - and to drive the analogy home, she even uses his music and lyrics in her classes: "When you see him in concert, there's no fancy stuff, no glitz, no magic light and balloon show. But he just goes so hard, and that is a really fabulous thing to see. So I use him as an example to show what it is to be truly engaged in something."Ìý Brooks clearly exemplifies that same commitment to tax law, and transmits her passion to her students.
