Âé¶čAV Welcomes Ian Brodie

Former PMO Chief of Staff to join Âé¶čAV Institute for the Study of Canada

Âé¶čAV is pleased to announce the appointment of Ian Brodie as Visiting Scholar at theÂé¶čAV Institute for the Study of Canada (MISC).

“We are delighted to be able to draw on Mr. Brodie's experience in public service and to welcome this political scientist back to the academic world,” said MISC Director Antonia Maioni. “His work at Âé¶čAV will offer insight on current policy issues to students and faculty alike.”

Mr. Brodie served as Chief of Staff to the Prime Minister of Canada from 2006 to 2008. Before that, he played a central role in the organization of the Conservative Party of Canada where he served as Executive Director. He also serves as associate professor of political science at the University of Western Ontario. He graduated from Âé¶čAV in 1990 with a B.A. in Political Science.

“Âé¶čAV has long played a central role in Canada 's public life, and MISC is well-known for the quality of its scholarly contribution,” Mr. Brodie said. “I am delighted to have this opportunity to reflect on the challenges facing the country, andI look forward to working with Âé¶čAV students and faculty in their continuing work.”

Mr. Brodie will be teaching a course entitled, Current Challenges in Public Policy.His appointment is for the winter term, which ends in May.

Ian Brodie’s appointment was made possible thanks to funding from the Dean of Arts’ Development Fund and the Âé¶čAV Institute for the Study of Canada.
