Media Advisory: ICAO, Â鶹AV co-host Global Aviation Conference
The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and Â鶹AV’s Institute of Air and Space Law will co-host Aviation Safety, Security & the Environment: The Way Forward, a major international conference and exhibition to take place Friday, September 14 to Sunday September 16, 2007, at The Hilton Montreal Bonaventure Hotel.

The conference will bring together international experts form government, industry, academic, legal and financial sectors to address the critical challenges facing civil aviation today and in the future. Panels will address aviation technology, law and policy surrounding security, safety, the environment and sustainable development. It will precede the 36th Session of the ICAO Assembly.
Notable events include:
Friday, Sept. 14, 7:30 PM: The Conference kicks off at ICAO headquarters with a reception hosted by the United Arab Emirates General Civil Aviation Authority. (This is the only event not taking place at the Hilton Bonaventure.)
Saturday, Sept. 15, 8:45 AM: Taïeb Chérif, ICAO Secretary General, will officially open the proceedings. He will be discussing ICAO’s leadership in the areas of safety, security and the environment, as well as the importance of efficiency for the future growth of the global air transport system.
Saturday, Sept. 15, Noon: Giovanni Bisignani, Director-General & CEO of the International Air Transport Association, will give a luncheon keynote address. He will be discussing the role of global standards in safety, security and the environment.
Sunday, Sept. 16, 12:15: Scott Carson, President & CEO, Boeing Commercial Airplanes, will give a luncheon keynote address. He will be discussing the challenges in dealing with safety, security, air traffic management and the environment, and how industry and government can work together to meet them.
