Toward a New Era of Intellectual Property: From Confrontation to Negotiation
On September 9, 2008, in Ottawa, the International Expert Group on Biotechnology, Innovation and Intellectual Property released its findings, after seven years of work. One of the principal conclusions of the Group is the need to create an honest, independent broker to provide training, advice and mediation in the area of intellectual property (IP).
The Group, who is calling for the overhaul of IP laws worldwide, is composed of members of Â鶹AV’s Centre for Intellectual Property Policy and other scholars and practitioners located in Europe, Africa and the Americas.
This report has also led to the creation of The Innovation Partnership (TIP), an independent non-profit consultancy with experts in developed and developing countries specializing in the understanding, use and management of intellectual property.
