Zhenni Li wins Second Prize at the International Edvard Grieg Competition

Schulich School of Music Doctoral piano student Zhenni Li  has won Second Prize in the 15th Annual which was held September 2-10 in Bergen, Norway.In addition to the 20,000 euro second prize, Ms. Li was also awarded the 1000 euro Orchestra Prize.  Ms. Li is a student of Prof. Stéphane Lemelin.

“Zhenni Li is a real artist. Her performance of Beethoven's 4th Concerto in the competition's final round was one of the most satisfyingly authentic, lyrical and convincing I have heard. Zhenni has a truly unique voice and a great contribution to make to the field. Ms. Li is a already prizewinner of numerous competitions, including a unanimously awarded  First Prize at the Concours Musical de France, and Second Prize at the Heida Hermanns International Piano Competition in Connecticut. Zhenni Li has also been top prizewinner of the International Russian Piano Competition in San Jose, where she performed Rachmaninoff Second Piano Concerto with the New Symphony Orchestra, a top prizewinner of the Kosciusko Chopin Piano Competition and a co-winner of the MTNA National Piano competition in Washington State. She also earned top prizes in many academic competitions in China, including the Xinghai and Toyama competitions in China.
