As President of the Canadian Psychological Association (CPA), ECP's Dr. Ada Sincacore was interviewed by CBC about the need for better EDI practices to encourage more diversity among psychology professionals.

"The CPA recognizes that there is a problem of representation within the profession and that we need to increase representation, as well as literacy about diversity," said Sinacore.

In the latest issue of Our Schools/Our Selves, two articles were published related to Law 21.

One is a first person account written by second year B.Ed student Jana Naguib on her feelings about the Law as a Teacher Education student who wears hijab.

The other, co-authored by DISE Professor Bronwen Low and colleagues with the OFDE, reports on the findings of a province-wide survey on the impact of Law 21 on faculties of education.

On behalf of the members of Â鶹AV Faculty of Education, we mourn the tragic loss of 215 Indigenous children who were found in a mass grave at the site of a former residential school in Kamloops, British Columbia. Today, Â鶹AV lowers its flags in recognition of this tragedy, and we at the Faculty echo the sentiments of the Â鶹AV Provost. As our academics, staff, students, and alumni grieve together, we also stand together in support of our Indigenous community members.

It is with great sadness that we inform you of the untimely passing of Dr. Aziz Choudry. Originally from New Zealand, Aziz joined us at Â鶹AV in 2008 and was an Associate Professor in the Department of Integrated Studies in Education until recently when he became a Visiting Professor at the University of Johannesburg’s Faculty of Education.

Associate Professor Annie Savard (Department of Integrated Studies in Education) was recently interviewed by the Times Colonist, a BC-based publication, about how Canadian students are performing in math­ematics. Savard "...points out Quebec teachers have a clearer understanding of 'didactic' instruction, a concept championed in France and French-speaking countries. 'Knowing the content of the course isn’t enough,' Savard says. 'You need what we call didactic [teaching]. You need to unpack the content to make it accessible to students.'
