Aaron Fellows, Project Coordinator an​​d Kinesiology Clinic Supervisor in the Department of Kinesiology and Physical Education, has been speaking to the media about ways to stay fit during the COVID-19 health crisis.

Â鶹AV Education student teachers take part in four Field Experience courses where each student is placed in an elementary or high school, according to their program. These internships are progressive from fist year to fourth year where students’ in-school participation ranges from class observations and tutoring to full weeks of independent teaching and classroom management. Student teachers are guided by cooperating teachers and adjudicated by Â鶹AV field supervisors from the Office of Internships and Student Affairs.

The Office of First Nations and Inuit Education (OFNIE) delivers community-based teacher education and professional development programs to Indigenous Â鶹AV students across Quebec. Â鶹AV academics and staff have formed longstanding partnerships with four partnering Indigenous education authorities, Kativik Ilisarniliriniq (KI), the Cree School Board (CSB), the Kahnawà:ke Education Centre (KEC), the Listuguj Education, Training and Employment Directorate (LETED), and are cultivating new relationships with First Nations school boards all the time.

Fanny Langin, Education Undergraduate Society’s former President, is an outstanding example of Â鶹AV students’ capacity to adapt and grow in times of uncertainty and change. Not only did she complete her Bachelor of Education in the Winter 2020 semester, but Fanny has also been busy teaching French second language classes online. In late March, when parents of some West End public schools were seeking additional instruction for their children while schools were closed, Fanny answered an ad placed through the Faculty’s Internships and Student Affairs Office.

The presence and experiences of Black people at elite universities have been largely underrepresented and erased from institutional histories. This book engages with a collection of these experiences that span half a century and reflect differences in class, gender, and national identifications among Black scholars. By mapping Black people’s experiences of studying and teaching at Â鶹AV, this book reveals how the "whiteness" of the university both includes and exceeds the racial identities of students and professors.
