Anthony Tan (MMus’09, PhD’15) is the winner of the 2021 Jules Léger Prize for New Chamber Music for his composition Ways of Returning (2020). An 18-minute-long piece for amplified string quartet and electronics, Ways of Returning was commissioned by Quatuor Bozzini and E27 musique nouvelles.

The Golden Violin Award wasestablishedin 2006 bybusinessmanand philanthropist Seymour Schulich, a year after he donated $20 million to 鶹AV’s Schulich School of Music.His unflagging support ofourmusicians has,through this award,seennearly$400,000giventotopSchulich stringplayers. Congratulations to mezzo-sopranos Rose Naggar-Tremblay (BMus’17) and Simone McIntosh (MMus'17, Wirth Vocal Prize Winner 2016-2017), who received first and second place respectively at the 82nd OSM Competition! The 2021 edition, held between September 13 and November 27, took place online enabling the public from coast to coast to access contestants’ performances.
