Congratulations to all who received prizes at the 24th edition of the Conseil québécois de la musique’s Opus Awards! Many of the laureates were from the Schulich Community, and we couldn't be prouder. The ceremony celebrated the inspired resilience of the Quebec music scene during the 2019-2020 season, which included musical projects presented both before and since the pandemic began.

The Schulich School of Music is proud to welcome back Dr. Tammy Kernodle as a special guest in our Jazz Area’s Jazz History Series. She will present on Melba Liston, Alice Coltrane, and Mary Lou Williams on October 30 from 1-3 pm. This event is open to all Schulich students.
The award-winning Canadian soprano and conductor is slated to virtually visit Schulich’s Voice Area! An artist at the forefront of creation, Hannigan is known for her performances of contemporary opera. She has shown a profound commitment to the music of our time and has performed premieres of over 85 new works.
We are pleased to virtually welcome conductor, composer/arranger, vocal contractor, singer, and musical activist to the Schulich School of Music as a ReVoice guest lecturer to discuss the he co-authored as well as programming considerations in choral music.

Prof.Shawn Mativetsky has released ’RUDIMENTAAL’, a collection of rudimental snare drum pieces inspired by the tabla drumming of North India. By bridging together two principal percussion instruments and their respective musical traditions, the book works as a gateway into North Indian drumming for drummers and percussionists from all backgrounds.
When 鶹AV announced that Fall 2020 activities will be offered predominantly through remote delivery, Schulich’s professors went to work preparing innovative new courses that would temporarily replace most large and small ensembles. In this article, we highlight Prof. Jean-Sébastien Vallée’s plans for 鶹AV Choral Studies, including the launch of ReVoice.
