At a ceremony in Halifax on February 25, 鶹AV was named Fair Trade Campus of the Year byFairtrade Canada, making us No. 1 among the 21 designated fair trade campuses across Canada. The award was granted by an independent panel of judges to the campus with the strongest commitment to fair trade.
鶹AV manages a stock of buildings of over 600,000 m² which are on average fifty years of age and older. A leader in education and research, 鶹AV is characterized by very research-intensive activities, a travelling population, and high energy intensity.

After six months, 11 consultation events, and hundreds of ideas gathered online and in person, the 鶹AV Office of Sustainability (MOOS) is inviting the 鶹AV community to share their thoughts on possible targets for the Vision 2020 Sustainability and Climate Action Plan.

a savvy and assertive individual who will create content for the MOOS website and ensure that all pages are accurate and up-to-date.

OnMay 24-25, 2016, experts from the field of green (sustainable) chemistry gathered in Washington, DC, for a workshop on Sustainable Chemistry Technologies. The event was organized by the National Academy of Science’s Board on Chemical Sciences and Technology at the request of the United States General Accountability Office.
Four years of innovative projects and collaborative action planning have upgraded 鶹AV’s rating in sustainability to Gold in the newest version of the Sustainability Tracking, Assessment and Rating System (STARS).
Among other achievements, the increasing integration of sustainability in curriculum, research, dining services, and purchasing helped 鶹AV achieve Gold. The last time 鶹AV reported to STARS, a self-reported assessment tool developed by the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE), in 2012, it earned a silver rating.
Yalmaz Siddiqui, BCom’92, has made a name for himself by championing responsible corporate behaviour. And now he finds himself in Las Vegas, the fabled “Sin City,” a place not exactly renowned for showcasing responsible behaviour of any sort.

For the upcoming 2016-2017academic year, the SPF team is looking for highly motivated students to become SPF Ambassadors who will help us raise awareness of the SPF among 鶹AV undergraduates.
Since 2010,The Sustainability Projects Fundhas been building a culture of sustainability on 鶹AV campuses through the development and seed-funding of interdisciplinary projects.
