Mimi Israël, MD, and Serge Beaulieu, MD, PhD received a 2013 “” for their commitment as first-line psychiatrists. The awards were handed out by Roger Cadieux, President of the Forum économique de Verdun, during a recognition ceremony on the evening of November 27.

This award recognizes the involvement of Verdun residents and employees.

In this week’s Spotlight, we would like to welcome Dr. Rimma Orenman as a new member of our department.

Dr. Orenman has been appointed as a full-time faculty lecturer who will be joining the DMHUI Great North Mental Health Program, serving the mental health needs of the Nunavik population through the Réseau Universitaire Intégré en Sante (RUIS 鶹AV) program. Dr. Orenman completed her residency at 鶹AV and has a background in anthropology. She has had a longstanding interest in working in the Quebec north.

Dr. Casacalenda is an Associate Professor in the 鶹AV Department of Psychiatry. As Training Director and Clinical Supervisor at the Jewish General Hospital, Dr. Casacalenda is actively involved in the training of psychiatry and family medicine residents. He has recently chaired the 鶹AV Department of Psychiatry Curriculum Review Committee, Collaborative Mental Health Task Force, and Family Skills Training Task Force. He is also former vice-chair of the Psychiatry Examination Board of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. Dr.
