To celebrate , the Office of Science Outreach released a free lesson plan for elementary school teachers. The lesson, titled “Travelling seeds” explores how seeds are dispersed. The activities and discussions center inquiry-based learning, to encourage nature discovery through hands-on experiences and observations.

The lesson was shared with science consultants across English and French school boards in the Greater Montreal area and has already received over 40 downloads.

Alongside ALL IN 2023 happening in Montreal, global video game leader Ubisoft, Mila - Quebec Artificial Intelligence Institute, the world’s largest academic deep learning (DL) research institute, and 鶹AV are proud to announce the creation of Ubisoft-Mila's new research Chair,Scaling Game Worlds with Responsible AI. This five-year Chair will be led by 鶹AV’s Associate Professor, Dr. Derek Nowrouzezahrai, and will explore the ethical use of AI in the large-scale game development content creation pipeline.

If you’ve been meaning to visit 鶹AV’s Redpath Museum, now is the time.

The historical building will undergo major renovations to bring it up to modern standards thanks to Ministry of Education grants, operating and accessibility funds, and the support of generous donors. The public can visit until the end of this year but will find doors closed at the start of 2024 when the work to pack and safely store the collections will begin. The construction part of the renovations will begin once that is completed, likely in the summer.

May 15th and 16th, Falling Walls Engage Hub Canada hosted 30 science outreach practitioners, from across the country, for a bilingual event titled “The Power of the Pitch: A Funding and Skills-building Workshop for Canadian Science Engagers”.

In a series of workshops, participants learned first-hand from funders what they are looking for in successful proposals and created quick pitches for new science engagement projects.
