Dr. Faleh Tamimi receives grants for work on bone healing and osseointegration

Congratulations to Dr. Faleh Tamimi along with fellow researchers Dr. Elham Emami (adjunt professor), Dr. Monzur Murshed and his students for winning two separate awards to investigate bone healing and osseointegration. Faleh Tamimi, Elham Emami, Monzur Murshed, Ahmed Al-Subaie, Xixi Wu: The effect of omeprazole affecting bone healing and osseointegration, AO Foundation Operating Grant $80,000 for 1.5 yrs. Faleh Tamimi, Elham Emami, Monzur Murshed, Ahmed Al-Subaie The effect of selective serotonin re-uptake inhibitors on bone healing and osseointegration, International Team for Implantology (ITI) Operating Grant $74,000 for 1 yr. Both of these grants are aimed at studying how systemic medications involved in bone metabolism can affect dental implants osseointegration and bone healing. These projects will be a necessary stepping stone to ensure the optimal treatment for patients who need implant therapy and are taking systemic medications, such as Proton Pump Inhibitors (PPIs) for gastro-esophageal diseases and Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) to treat depression.
