Millennial and Gen Z workers bring different viewsâand expect them to be heard
Millennials and Generation Z are changing the workforce, writes Harvey Schachter in The Globe and Mail. Millennials are moving in to management, while Gen Z is beginning to enter the workforce in large numbers. Both generations grew up in a time when the nature of truth and knowledge were being questioned, the importance of mental health was being stressed, and hierarchy was declining. Companies need to understand this to successfully integrate younger employees into their workforce, and to understand this, Schachter looked to Generation Why?, a new book by Desautels Prof. Karl Moore. âIt is crucial that modern managers clearly define their values to accommodate and reflect these newly established social values,â Moore writes. Both Millennials and Generation Z expect to be heard, and employers need to listen.
