Dr. Daksha Shah (IMHL’20) is leading a new TB vaccine trial in Mumbai, where an estimated 40 to 50 percent of the population carries a latent TB infection. The pilot project focuses on providing treatment to close contacts of TB patients.

IMHL graduate releases new book

Mark J. Eisenberg, MD MPH (IMHL’10), Director of the MD-PhD Program and Professor of Medicine at Â鶹AV, has released a new book entitled, Cardiology Board Review and Self-Assessment: A Companion Guide to Hurst’s the Heart.

The book features 1,100 answers to key questions stemming from the 14th Edition of Hurst’s the Heart, a comprehensive review of the entire field of cardiovascular medicine.

Walk of Fame star for IMHL alumna

Health advocate Dr. Joanne Liu (MDCM’91, IMHL’14, DSc’16) is among the 10 new inductees to the Walk of Fame, which honors Canadians who have excelled on the national and international levels.

As International President of Médecins sans frontières (Doctors Without Borders) Dr. Joanne Liu has worked with Malian refugees in Mauritania, helped people affected by the earthquake in Haiti and the tsunami in Indonesia, and tended to war-wounded patients in Syria.

IMHL participant fights for accessible dental coverage in Maryland - and wins!

Diane Romaine, IMHL’18 candidate, has been a strong advocate for adult dental care in her state of Maryland and it has recently paid off with the Maryland General Assembly unanimously passing a motion to include adult dental coverage in its Medicaid plan (formally referred to as:  SB 284 –Maryland Medical Assistance Program – Dental Coverage for Adults – Pilot Program).
