Maya Gold & Silver Inc. has appointed Benoit La Salle (BCom’76) as its new CEO and president, effective immediately. La Salle brings to the role more than 25 years of experience as a corporate executive of mining companies, most recently as the founder and executive chairman of SRGGraphite Inc.

Two Â鶹AV finance students receive CFA scholarship
Investment leader CFA Montréal has awarded two scholarships to Desautels students Rakan Lamy (BCom’20) and Xinyan Wang (MMF’20) for their high academic achievement and engagement in the investment community.
The scholarship, awarded to a total of six students based in Montreal, is given to finance students who have their sights set on becoming CFA charterholders.

Bringing life to healthy eating
In 2008, Â鶹AV alumnus David Segal (BCom’04) found success with his first entrepreneurial endeavour, DavidsTea. Recognizing diet as one of today’s biggest health issues, Segal’s latest calling Mad Radish aims to elevate salads from mere side dish to an exciting, flavourful meal.
For Segal, business is a vehicle for change, so for every order placed the company donates a serving of fresh vegetables to community food centres in Canada.

Â鶹AV team scores second place at International Youth Leadership Finance Summit
A team of five Â鶹AV students secured second place at the International Youth Leadership Finance Summit, hosted by the Master of Finance program at the Shanghai Advanced Institute of Finance at Shanghai Jiao Tong University from January 11–14. The event brought together 27 teams from universities across the world, including Stanford University, Columbia University and the London School of Economics, to explore how sci-tech companies are empowered through innovation and finance.
