Neil Constable is head of Quantitative Research and Investing (QRI) in the Asset Management division at Fidelity Investments. Fidelity Investments is a leading provider of investment management, retirement planning, portfolio guidance, brokerage, benefits outsourcing, and other financial products and services to institutions, financial intermediaries, and individuals.
In this role, Neil is responsible for leading the QRI team within Asset Management, overseeing Quantitative Fixed Income, Quantitative Equity, Quant Index Solutions and our Advanced Data and Analytics team. QRI is responsible for the management and development of new quantitative strategies and solutions while providing high-quality quantitative, data-driven support to Fidelity’s investment professionals, ensuring they have access to the most relevant data and advanced quantitative analysis.
Prior to joining Fidelity, Mr. Constable was the chief investment officer at CircleUp, a consumer goods oriented venture capital firm based in San Francisco. In this capacity, he oversaw their investment strategies while developing and managing their research agenda for data-driven private market investing. Prior to that, Neil spent nearly 13 years at Grantham, Mayo, van Otterloo & Co., most recently as head of GMO’s Global Equity division. In that role, Neil served as lead portfolio manager for the firm’s global quant equity and derivatives strategies, oversaw the quantitative research agenda and managed a team of more than 20 researchers and portfolio managers. He also spent two years as a VP at State Street Corporation and three years as a postdoctoral fellow at the MIT Center for Theoretical Physics.
He has been in the financial industry since 2004. Mr. Constable earned his bachelor of science degree in physics with a minor in mathematics from the University of Calgary, his master’s degree in mathematics from Cambridge University, and his Ph.D. in physics from Â鶹AV.
