Professor Ratna Ghosh receives Order of Montreal
Professor Ratna Ghosh, of our Department of Integrated Studies in Education, received the Order of Montreal at the city's annual ceremony yesterday.Ìý
The award honours "members of our community who dedicate themselves for the common good and our city's social and economic development." The Ordre de Montréal takes over from the Académie des Grands Montréalais, which was created in 1988 by the Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal, which itself had taken over an initiative by the Canadian National introduced 10 years earlier.Ìý
Ratna Ghosh, Distinguished James Â鶹AV Professor and William C. MacDonald Professor in our Department of Integrated Studies in Education, was Dean of Education at Â鶹AV from 1998 to 2003, was appointed aÌýMember of the Order of CanadaÌý(C.M.) in 2000,ÌýOfficer of the Order of QuebecÌý(O.Q.) in 2005, and was elected aÌýFellow of the Royal Society of CanadaÌý(F.R.S.C.) in 1999. She received both the Queen’s Golden and Diamond Jubilee medals. She is also aÌý Member of the European Academy of Arts, Sciences and Humanities; and a Fellow of The World Academy (TWAS)Ìýfor the advancement of science in developingÌýcountries, Social Sciences Division, in Trieste, Italy. She recently founded theÌýResearch GroupÌýPEER (Preventing Extremism through Education Research).
