Faculty Fellowships and Awards Winners Announced

The Faculty of Education is pleased to announce the winners of the competitions for Fellowships and Awards for the 2018-2019 year.

Ellen Edith Grubb Stansfield Award for School-based Classroom Research ($900) 

Melissa Daoust/ KPE Masters

Established in 2000 by a bequest by Ellen Edith Grubb Stansfield (BA'29, MA'31) in recognition of her experience, leadership and interest in education, schools and classrooms. Awarded by the Faculty of Education to an outstanding student entering the first year of a full-time MA thesis or PhD program in the Faculty of Education with research in classroom and school contexts.

Walter A & K Mary Marsh Fellowships (Doctoral $8500)

Domenico Tullo/ECP Doctoral

Awarded to outstanding graduate students who have demonstrated leadership qualities. Preference will be given to graduate students conducting research with a focus on teaching.

Jackie Kirk Fellowships (two fellowships of $7000)

 Kyla Brophy/ECP Masters and Hani Sadati/ DISE Doctoral

The Jackie Kirk Fellowship was established in 2009 by Andrew Kirk in memory of his wife, Jackie Kirk. It is awarded to outstanding graduate students in the Faculty of Education, with a preference for students whose research has a focus on any one or a combination of the following: post-conflict education on developing countries, women teachers, and girlhood studies. This faculty-level endowment is awarded annually and is non-renewable.

Jackie Kirk Fieldwork Support Fund ($7000)

Melissa Daoust/KPE Masters

Established in 2009 by Â鶹AV Professor Andrew Kirk in memory of his wife, Jackie Kirk, to recognize and promote the scholarship and achievements of students conducting fieldwork.The Fund will support and recognize an outstanding graduate student in the Faculty of Education and be awarded annually on the basis of academic merit.

Herschel and Christine Victor Fellowship in Education ($11,000)

Shan Li/ECP Doctoral

The Herschel and Christine Victor Fellowship in Education was established in 2000 by Herschel Victor (B.Com. 1944) for an outstanding graduate student in the Faculty of Education. This faculty-level endowment is awarded annually and is non-renewable.

Dr. Gauri Shankar Guha Award ($1100)

 Juan Zheng/ECP Doctoral

Established in 2003 by Dr. Ratna Ghosh in her late father's name for an outstanding graduate student pursuing research in international development education in the Faculty of Education. Awarded on the basis of academic excellence and aptitude for research by the Faculty of Education Awards Committee.

Muriel H. Marsh and Harold A. Marsh Endowment (2 awards of $3,800.00)

 Emily Stubbert/ECP Doctoral and Rebecca Pearce/DISE Doctoral

Established in 2018 by a bequest by from Katherine Mary Eaton Marsh (DipEd 1942) to support in-course scholarships, fellowships, and projects. Eligibility: Granted to outstanding graduate students working on projects on children with special needs.
