This paper uses rich administrative data with student and parent survey information to analyze for the first time the dynamic impacts of the iconic Mexican conditional cash transfer program on student learning measured by standardized tests in math and Spanish, student progression (or dropout) through six grades of school, and student school choices.

Speaker:

Jere R. Behrman is the Kenan Professor of Economics and Sociology, University of Pennsylvania. His research is in empirical micro economics, economic development, early childhood development, labor economics, human resources, economic demography, household behaviors, life-cycle and intergenerational relations and policy evaluation. He has published over 490 professional articles and 36 books. He has worked with numerous international organizations and governments, been involved in professional research or lecturing in over 40 countries, principal investigator or investigator on over 170 research projects, has over 53,000 citations according to Google Scholar, and received various honors for his research.

Co-hosted by the Dept of Equity, Ethics and Policy, the Centre on Population Dynamics and the Centre Interuniversitaire de Recherche en Économie Quantitative.
