Â鶹AV

Black History Month 2023

This year marks the 7th annual celebration of Black History Month at Â鶹AV and we hope that you will join us!

All are invited to attend the Opening Ceremony on Wednesday, February 1, 2023, from 5 PM to 8 PM. Organized in partnership with the Faculty of Education, we are thrilled to be welcoming Professor Rinaldo Walcott, Professor and Chair Department of Africana and American Studies and Carl V. Granger Chair of Africana and American Studies at the University of Buffalo to deliver the keynote address.Ìý

The Opening Ceremony will be in a hybrid format and will take place at the Tanna Schulich Hall in the Elizabeth Wirth Music Building, located at 527 Sherbrooke Street West. Please note there are limited in-person spots available so we would appreciate your confirmation of attendance by Friday January 27, 2023. An online link will be shared with all guests who will join us virtually. For any questions or to share any accessibility needs, please do not hesitate to contact shanice.yarde [at] mcgill.ca.

Each year, Black History Month at Â鶹AV brings together students, staff, faculty, alumni, and community members through events held both in person and online. These events present an opportunity to learn, reconnect, and celebrate Black communities’ contributions to education and research. We are proud of the continued recognition of Black History Month here at Â鶹AV and beyond and look forward to honouring and celebrating Black history together.
