Black History Month at Â鶹AV Opening Ceremony
Â鶹AV is thrilled to be welcoming Prof. Rinaldo Walcott as this year's keynote speaker for our Black History Month Opening Ceremony. Rinaldo Walcott is a Professor and the Carl V. Granger Chair in Africana and American Studies at the University of Buffalo (SUNY). His teaching and research are in the area of Black diaspora cultural studies and postcolonial studies with an emphasis on questions of sexuality, gender, nation, citizenship, and multi-culturalism. Walcott is the author of Black Like Who: Writing Black Canada (1997; second revised edition in 2003), Rude: Contemporary Black Canadian Cultural Criticism (2000), and BlackLife: Post-blm and the Struggle for Freedom (2019, with Idil Abdillahi). His most recent books are On Property (2021) and The Long Emancipation (2021).
