Meet 2022 Global Health Scholar Saisha Vasudeva

Â鶹AV Global Health Scholar Saisha Vasudeva is an Honours Economics and student working with Professor Paola Perez-Aleman of the Faculty of Management

Saisha Vasudeva is an Honours Economics student and a Â鶹AV Global Health Scholar supported by the John Locke Churchill Scholar Award. This past summer, Saisha worked with Prof. Paola Perez-Aleman on Innovation Adoption, Health, and Gender Equity.

"As a Global Health Scholar working under the guidance of Prof. Paola Perez-Aleman, I have been exploring the innovation adoption of health technologies and practices that improve gender equity in low-income contexts. I am currently building a literature database to find explicit attempts at fostering gender inclusion while developing health products, processes, and practices.

As someone deeply interested in the health policy space and its intersection with economics and public finance, delving into this research topic has been an extremely enriching and interesting learning experience. It has been eye-opening to learn about various products that have been introduced with the aim of gender inclusion, but have ended up having no benefit to women whatsoever on the ground."

Â鶹AV is located on land which has long served as a site of meeting and exchange amongst Indigenous Peoples, including the Haudenosaunee and Anishinabeg Nations. Â鶹AV honours, recognizes, and respects these nations as the traditional stewards of the lands and waters on which peoples of the world now gather. Today, this meeting place is still the home to many Indigenous Peoples from across Turtle Island. We are grateful to have the opportunity to work on this land.
