Changes at the Helm of the IASL

The Â鶹AV Institute of Air and Space Law is pleased to announce that Prof. Vincent Correia and Professor Andrea Herrington have commenced their appointment as Co-Directors of Institute as of today, August 1st. They take over the helm of the IASL from Prof. Donal Hanley, who has ably and thoughtfully steered the affairs of the Institute as Interim Director over the past year.

Specialized in aviation law, Vincent Correia was a full professor of public law at the Université de Paris-Saclay. His research focuses on the interactions between international air law and national and regional legislation, from a multi-level perspective. He has been a visiting professor at Leiden University (Netherlands) for almost a decade and intervened as a guest lecturer at several universities throughout the world. He is fluent in French, English, and Spanish. He is co-editor of the Revue française de droit aérien et spatial and a member of the editorial boards of the Aviation and Space Journal and the Air & Space Law. He is member of the boards of the European Air Law Association and of the Société française de droit aérien et spatial. In recent years, he collaborated with several governments, airlines, aircraft manufacturers and law firms as a consultant. He holds a doctorate in public law and a master’s degree in European Community law from Bordeaux University, and a bachelor of law from Bordeaux University and the University of Salamanca.

Andrea Harrington served as the dean of space education at Air University. She leads Guardian Education development efforts for the United States Space Force (USSF), including the set-up of USSF graduate programs at Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies in Washington DC. Previously, she served as chair of the Department of Spacepower and director of the Schriever Space Scholars concentration at Air Command and Staff College, where she is a full professor. She serves as a member of the editorial board for the Â鶹AV Annals of Air and Space Law, New Space Journal, and the American Bar Association publication The Air and Space Lawyer. She is a licensed attorney in Massachusetts. She served as associate director of the University of Mississippi Air and Space Law programs and associate chair for the Policy, Economics, and Law Department in the International Space University’s Space Studies Program. She holds a DCL and LLM from Â鶹AV, a JD from the University of Connecticut, an MSc in European Politics and Governance from the London School of Economics, and a BA from Boston University.
