Scholar Profile: Oluwatosin Awotundun

Growing up in an economic-disadvantaged community as a child, I have always had a dream of impacting my local and distant communities positively and productively. However, this would have stayed a dream if not for the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program that provided me with the exhilarating opportunity to learn, develop and be a part of community of scholars that share a common goal.  For me, being a Mastercard Foundation Scholar stems beyond the mere ambition of being awarded a scholarship, as the program has imbued in me the resolute commitment to providing long-lasting/paramount services with life-changing initiatives to my local communities and humanity at large.Ìý

Over the last two years, the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program has consciously charted my path of influence and enabled me to carefully build a strong network of influence along my career path, actively being a member of relevant professional bodies, organizing technology exhibitions and constantly collaborating with the best minds in my field of study, globally. Been a Mastercard Foundation Scholar has enabled me take on numerous volunteering projects, research works and impactful community development projects, a notable example is co-founding Smart Innovation Hub. Being a Mastercard Foundation Scholar has enabled me to see beyond the world of research and development, but also into vital contribution in ensuring sensitization around sustainable development.Ìý

I am currently building a career pointed towards leading the African STEM field, particularly blending my skills towards solving major educational issues within Nigeria and Africa as a whole.ÌýÌý

By 2030, my hope is to see the foundation reaching out to millions of people in indigenous and marginalized communities while providing solutions to various global issues strategically in line with the Sustainable Development Goals.Ìý
