Two MURA members honoured as 鶹AV Unsung Heroes

Two MURA members, Leo Kerklaan and Honora Shaughnessy, nominated as 鶹AV Unsung Heroes

As part of the Bicentennial Celebrations, faculties, central units, associations, and unions were asked to nominate the Unsung Heroes in their department – the less-recognized faculty and staff who have walked the halls of 鶹AV through the ages and who have greatly helped shape the community. We are honoured to report that two MURA members, Leo Kerklaan and Honora Shaughnessy, were included in the first cohort of Unsung Heroes for the week of June 1, 2021. Leo worked in IT, Human Resources, and 鶹AV’s Payroll department full time for 42 years, and part-time for another 10 years! He was nominated as an “unsung hero” for his dedication, solutions-orientation, knowledge, amongst many other reasons and attributes. Honora’s 36-year career at 鶹AV, included positions as Associate Librarian, Executive Assistant to two Principals, Director of the Equity Office, and Senior Executive Director of Alumni Relations. She was nominated as an “unsung hero” for her leadership, her collaborative and consultative management style, her mentorship, and the recognition and appreciation she invariably expressed to her team members. .
