Hospital / Hôpital conference
鶹AV puts the spotlight on the past, present and future of the “hospital”
In 2015-16, Montrealers will witness the opening of two new ‘Superhospitals’. At a combined cost of billions of dollars, and two decades of planning, the 鶹AV Health Centre (MUHC) and Centre Hospitalier d’Université de Montréal (CHUM) will constitute two of the largest health care institutions in Canada. The centralization of medical service delivery will also result in the repurposing of two of the oldest and most famous medical institutions in Canada – the Royal Victoria Hospital and Hôtel Dieu.
On October 1-2, The Institute for Health and Social Policy (IHSP) and the Centre for Interdisciplinary Research on Montreal (CIRM) at 鶹AV will host Hospital / Hôpital, a colloquium, exploring the hospital from historical, architectural, socio-cultural, and urban planning perspectives.
