Dear Donor,
My name is Florian Seefeld, currently enrolled in the Joint Honours Program in Mathematics and Physics at Â鶹AV, and I have been awarded the Faculty of Science Scholarship this year. I really enjoy my program, and as an aspiring researcher in theoretical physics or mathematics , I especially like learning the methodology and tools for complex problem solving that a researcher needs. I am looking forward to understanding better how our universe works, the rules governing it, and to hopefully one day adding my grain of sand to our models.
But this field is very competitive. We all aspire to be the first in doing the great new discovery, and it has almost become a race. This leads to moments of self-doubt, of decreased self-esteem. Why should I pursue this if others can do a better job, if others are smarter or simply better at it? Receiving the Faculty of Science Scholarship not only made me feel very honoured, but it also reminds me that I have the academic capacities to achieve my goal of becoming one day a researcher. It has reminded me of the hard work that I have invested to obtain the grades and the skills which eventually made me score in the top 5% of the faculty. And it was my work that brought me here, and it will be my work that will make me succeed. Ultimately, it made me feel validated and empowered.
Therefore, I wanted to thank you very much for reminding me that I have in my hands the keys to success.
Kind Regards,
Florian Seefeld
