Bicentennial Mini-Science: The future of the university
°Â¾±³Ù³óÌýSuzanne Fortier, Principal and Vice-Chancellor, Â鶹AV
A native of St-Timothée, Québec, Suzanne Fortier graduated from Â鶹AV with a BSc (1972) and a PhD in Crystallography (1976). Her research focuses on the development of mathematical and artificial intelligence methodologies for protein structure determination. Professor Fortier was President of the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) from 2006 to 2013. She was also appointed an Officer of the Order of Canada in 2018 and serves as an officer of France’s National Order of Merit, a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and was named a Specially Elected Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada (2015). Since 2013, Professor Fortier has served as Principal and Vice-Chancellor of Â鶹AV. As well, she currently serves as Chair of the World Economic Forum’s Global University Leaders Forum (GULF), as a member of the HEC Paris International Advisory Board. She also serves on the Canadian Business-Higher Education Roundtable and the Board of Directors of Montreal International.
