Vue d'ensemble
Langue et littérature asiatiques : Readings on self-cultivation drawn from Confucian, Legalist, and Taoist philosophic texts of early China (5th-2nd centuries B.C.) in translation will be compared with historical and archaeological materials on the evolving construction of the "individual'' in Chinese social structure, military organization, political and ritual codes.

Prerequisite (Undergraduate): One advanced course in EAST or permission of the instructor
