Program Requirements
Le programme de certificat en traduction vise 脿 initier les 茅tudiants aux fondements de la traduction 茅crite. Ce certificat en traduction (option anglais vers le fran莽ais) exige la r茅ussite d'un total de 30 unit茅s (dix cours). Les 茅tudiants qui n'ont pas r茅ussi l'examen d'admission devront suivre un ou plusieurs cours pr茅paratoires (non assortis d'unit茅s).
Le cours de stylistique compar茅e vise 脿 sensibiliser les 茅tudi颅ants aux usages de la langue et aux probl猫mes de traduction; les cours de traduction offrent d'autre part une exp茅rience pratique de la traduction de textes tir茅s de domaines vari茅s. Au cours de la premi猫re partie du programme de certificat, le m锚me temps est consacr茅 脿 la traduction dans les langues choisies. Au cours de la derni猫re partie du programme, les 茅tudiants sont s茅par茅s selon la langue de sp茅cialisation qu'ils ont choisie.

Traduction : Provides linguistic and stylistic comparisons between English and French in terms of their relation to the practical study of Translation. Comparative analysis of the structures of the two languages will be used to outline the common problems of translation and to develop strategies for dealing with them. Traduction : This course is intended to give translators additional training which will be of practical use in their work. The emphasis will be on the understanding and analysis of texts in order to determine the essential elements needed in pr茅cis writing. Exercises based on varied French and English texts are intended to familiarize students with the preparation of texts of a practical nature, e.g. reports, minutes, abstracts. The objective of the course is to train students to summarize a given text accurately and concisely in a way that respects the form and sophistication of the original text and exploits the idiomatic nature of the language./ Ce cours vise 脿 donner au traducteur une formation compl茅mentaire utile 脿 son travail. L'accent sera mis sur la compr茅hension et l'analyse du texte pour en d茅gager les 茅l茅ments essentiels 脿 partir desquels l'茅tudiant aura 脿 r茅diger un r茅sum茅.
