Biology and Mathematics

Overview

Put simply, biology is the study of life. It aims to address fundamental questions about the origin, evolution, development, and behaviour of living organisms. Understanding biology helps us understand the past, present, and future of the natural world that surrounds us, and better appreciate our own place within it. Mathematical biology uses theoretical analysis and mathematics to better understand these living organisms, allowing us to study biology from a different perspective.

This Joint Major program combines mathematics and biology courses and lets you choose from three different focus streams: Ecology and Evolutionary Ecology, Molecular Evolution, and Neurosciences. You will graduate with skills and knowledge in both fields, opening various career paths and opportunities for further study.

Careers

A Biology and Mathematics degree at Â鶹AV combines in-depth scientific knowledge and experience with universal skills such as research, critical thinking, communication and teamwork, opening a wide variety of career options in both industry and academic settings.
