Â鶹AV offers a unique English program with courses covering three closely linked subjects: English literature, drama, and cultural studies. This program allows you to explore all three subjects broadly while specializing in one area.Â
The Cultural Studies option teaches students how to analyze forms of cultural expression and symbolic interaction. You will explore the different ways that cultural expression can be shared and transformed. Â
This program offers a broad knowledge of symbolic form and aesthetic analysis, as well as critical theories related to media. You will hone your analytical and interpretive skills while learning about specific critical approaches to cultural studies. Choose from courses in cultural theory, the history of literature and film, selected seminal works, and more based on your interests.Â
Careers
A background in Cultural Studies will strengthen your critical and analytical skills, and will give you plenty of experience in writing and research. You can continue onto graduate studies or a career in many different fields like media criticism, journalism, writing, and community work.Â
