Music Performance: Jazz


Overview

The Jazz B.Mus. curriculum includes jazz theory and harmony, keyboard, history, performance practice, and two years each of improvisation, composition, and arranging. It will help you to greatly improve as a musician and performer while developing important skills in areas like music theory, music history, and professional training.

Throughout this program, you will have access to private instrumental instruction. You can participate in Â鶹AV's three award-winning jazz orchestras, the chamber jazz orchestra and approximately twenty combos that perform regularly at local venues. The program ties together the theoretical and practical knowledge and skills that will help you to succeed as a musician.


Careers

This program is meant to help you prepare for a career as a musician and to improve your technical and creative skills. Courses in history, theory, and professional training will help open additional career paths should you decide to pursue a career in areas like music journalism, instruction, community engagement and more.
