Equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) are inseparable from excellence in the modern university. 鶹AV’s Strategic Plan for 2020-2025 highlights the manifold benefits of EDI in the academy; stronger students, stronger research, and stronger, more sustainable communities. As the University’s plan states, “EDI are more than rhetoric; they are central to 鶹AV’s academic mission and vision.” By extension, EDI is also core to the goals and continued success of the Department of Bioresource Engineering.
The Department's EDI committee aims to promote the principles of EDI in all aspects of its education, research, and operations. The committee does this through educational events and by linking students, faculty, and staff to 鶹AV’s centralized resources on EDI.
The full mandate and terms of reference of the Standing Committee can be found here: EDI terms of reference

The Food for Thought seminar series contains several seminars that are relevant to EDI.
Land Acknowledgment
鶹AV is on land which has long served as a site of meeting and exchange amongst Indigenous peoples, including the Haudenosaunee and Anishinabeg nations. We acknowledge and thank the diverse Indigenous peoples whose presence marks this territory on which peoples of the world now gather.
