Pareesa Kassam

Pareesa received a Bachelor of Science in Integrated Sciences, specializing in Immunology and Genetics, from the University of British Columbia in 2019. Following her undergraduate studies, she had the opportunity to work as part of the Clinical Operations Team with a digital health company, helping Canadians access family physicians and other healthcare providers via telehealth. She also was a Clinical Project Coordinator with BC Cancer's Redevelopment Project Team and helped to plan and design cancer care facilities for the province. Pareesa is excited to combine her interests in viral diseases, oncology, and health equity by pursuing a Master of Science in Epidemiology.

THESIS RESEARCH


Project Title:ÌýEfficacy of a carrageenan-based gel in reducing viral load of anal high-risk human papillomavirus infections in gay, bisexual, and other men who have sex with men (supervisor: Dr. Eduardo Franco).

Brief Description:ÌýMy thesis is focused on evaluating the efficacy of a carrageenan-based gel in reducing anal HPVs 16 and 18 viral load, comparing anal HPVs 16 and 18 viral load between HIV-negative and HIV-positive gay, bisexual, and other men who have sex with men, and identifying important correlates.
