Appointment of Kathleen Massey as Executive Director of Enrolment Services and Registrar
Dear Colleagues,
I am very pleased to announce the appointment of Kathleen Massey as Executive Director of Enrolment Services and Registrar effective December 1, 2007.
Reporting to the Deputy Provost (Student Life and Learning), the Executive Director is responsible for providing enrolment services to both students and the academic community, and for student records management. The Executive Director works closely with senior leadership in the development of the University strategic enrolment management plan and plays a key role in attaining enrolment and retention goals, consistent with Â鶹AV's mission, academic programs and unique strengths. The Executive Director sets operational goals and benchmarks their achievement in the areas of marketing to prospective students, recruitment, credential evaluation and admissions processes, course enrolment and class scheduling, exam scheduling and invigilation, and the provision of front-line services to prospective applicants and students.
Ms. Massey comes to Â鶹AV from the University of Calgary, where she has served as Assistant Vice President (Enrolment) and University Registrar since April 2005. At Calgary, Ms. Massey led the reorganization of Enrolment Services toward an integrated organizational model that was characterized by shared leadership and accountability and was motivated by the goals of student-centredness and staff empowerment. She also led the planning and implementation of an integrated, best-in-class service model. Her experience at a large G13 university as well as her professional skills and demonstrated leadership will help us to advance the Principal's Taskforce recommendations to ensure that services and administrative processes at Â鶹AV are effective, efficient and, most importantly, student oriented. Ms. Massey will work with faculties, Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies, and Student Life and Learning directors to ensure a seamless, coordinated approach to providing the best student experience.
It remains only to extend our most sincere thanks to Professor Nicholas B. de Takacsy, who has served as Interim Executive Director of Enrolment Services and Registrar since January 15, 2007. A respected administrator with significant experience, Professor de Takacsy led the ARR team, kept us on track through the period of transition, and advanced several important initiatives. We greatly appreciate his dedication to our students and to Â鶹AV.
