Research Project:

The research project will be based on a Methanol-to-Olefins (MTO) process using SAPO-34 catalysts focusing on enhancing catalyst performance by improving its selectivity toward light olefins (ethylene and propylene) and extending its lifespan. SAPO-34, a microporous zeolite, has high olefin selectivity but suffers from coke deposition which deactivates the catalyst over time. To address this, we plan on developing hierarchical SAPO-34 with mesopores to improve diffusion, reduce coke formation, and enhance overall catalyst stability.
