Dr. Michelle Elizov appointed interim Division Director of General Internal Medicine, Â鶹AV Department of Medicine

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Michelle ElizovÌý²¹²õÌýinterim Â鶹AV Division Director of General Internal Medicine (GIM), effective July 1, 2023.

Dr. Elizov is an Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine, and a member of the Division of General Internal Medicine based at the Jewish General Hospital (JGH). Dr. Elizov is a graduate of Â鶹AV’s MDCM program and completed her residency and fellowship training in GIM at the JGH.

In 2004, she received a Master in Health Professions Education (with honours) from the University of Maastricht in the Netherlands, where her thesis focused on teaching in the ambulatory care setting. Over the course of her career, she has gained significant expertise in health professions education and leadership through roles such as Chair of the GIM Postgraduate Training Program Competence Committee at Â鶹AV, and as Vice-Chair of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada GIM Specialty Committee. She was also the Director of University and Medical Education, CIUSSS du Centre-Ouest de l’Ile de Montréal from 2015 to 2017 and currently serves as Associate Dean, Faculty Development. In her role as interim Â鶹AV Division Director, Dr. Elizov will be responsible for cultivating a stimulating and rewarding academic work environment across sites for all, supporting impactful research, and ensuring high qualify teaching of trainees at all levels to contribute to developing the next generation of high-quality providers.

She replaces Dr. Vicky Tagalakis, who has held the position of Â鶹AV Division Director and served with distinction and exemplary leadership for the past 7 years. Dr. Tagalakis is appointed as the JGH Physician-in-Chief effective July 1st, 2023. Dr Tagalakis was a role model Â鶹AV Division Director initiating many programs that led to academic growth in the Division across all sites.
