Starting in 2021-2022, all newly admitted Software Engineering students in the Faculty of Engineering at Â鶹AV will enter the Software Engineering Co-op program. In this co-op program you will apply concepts learned in class during the course of four paid work terms. After about four or five years of study, you will have earned your diploma along with 16 months of paid experience and a network of valuable contacts.

What are the benefits of co-op education?
You will complete four, 4-month-long, paid work terms in research and industrial settings locally, nationally, or internationally. During these work terms, you perform technical engineering tasks and submit required assignments, for which you receive 2 university credits, a grade, and a formal evaluation by the employer. As a student enrolled in the Software Engineering Co-op Program you will have a dedicated Software Co-op Advisor and an Academic Director to assist throughout the co-op process. You will also have access to all the career services at the Engineering Career Centre which includes skill building workshops, individual appointments, career fairs, and networking activities and events. The Software Co-op Advisor will also offer tailored skill-building workshops such as how to prepare for a technical/coding interview, how to optimize LinkedIn and how to prepare for career fairs.
