PhD in Kinesiology Sciences Â鶹AV

Prospective applicants are encouraged to contact potential dissertation supervisors individually before applying to the program. A list of members of the academic staff and their research interests will be available on the KPE web site. Applications should include the following documentation:

  • Completed application form through Â鶹AV uApply portal.
  • Two official or certified copies of academic transcripts of post-secondary studies from all previously attended universities.
  • Curricula vitae.
  • Two recent letters of recommendation from academic sources on institutional letterhead paper with original signatures. It is strongly recommended that one of the reference letters is from the candidate’s most recent research supervisor (whether internal or external to Â鶹AV). Advise your academic source that your letters of recommendations are also considered when evaluating your dossier for internal funding opportunities. It is recommended that the letters highlight your accomplishments and potential as a graduate student.
  • A personal statement letter identifying the applicant's proposed research topic, potential supervisor(s), and expected professional directions; and describing his/her academic and work experience, long-term career goals, motivation for pursuing a Ph.D. in Kinesiology Sciences and his/her suitability for acceptance into the program.
  • Applicants to graduate studies whose mother tongue is not English and who have not completed an undergraduate or graduate degree from a recognized foreign institution where English is the language of instruction or from a recognized Canadian institution (Anglophone or Francophone), must provide evidence of English language proficiency (e.g., TOEFL, IELTS) with their application; a minimum TOEFL score of 600 on the paper-based test (96 on the internet-based test with each component score not less than 20).
  • The minimum requirement is a cGPA of 3.0 out of a possible 4.0.
