Postdoctoral Fellows
Postdoctoral Fellows are postdocs who receive external funding, and are paid directly by the external funding agency or through the Â鶹AV Health Centre (MUHC) or an affiliated institute.
If this is your case, you will be considered a student, not a Â鶹AV employee. Postdoctoral Fellows are also sometimes referred to as "Group A."Ìý
Postdoctoral Scholars
Postdoctoral Scholars receive external funding like Postdoctoral Fellows. However, Postdoctoral Scholars are paid 100% of this funding through Â鶹AV's payroll systems.
If this is your case, you will be considered a student, not a Â鶹AV employee. Postdoctoral Scholars are also sometimes referred to as "Group B."Ìý
Postdoctoral Researchers
Postdoctoral Researchers receive part of their funding directly from Â鶹AV. Postdoctoral Researchers are consideredÌýboth students and Â鶹AV employees.
Postdocs receiving more than 25% of their income from Â鶹AV funds are unionized Postdoctoral Researchers while all others are non-unionized. Postdoctoral Researchers are also sometimes referred to as "Group C."Ìý
