The Society for the History of Natural History (SHNH) is delighted to award the SHNH President’s Award 2023 toVictoria Dickenson for her work on the Gwillim Project: Women, Environment, and Networks of Knowledge and Exchange in Early Nineteenth Century Madras.The Award recognizes an individual or team’s contribution and impact in promoting and improving accessibility, inclusivity, and diversity to the study of the history of natural history.

Osler Library of the History of Medicine reopens August 29, 2022
After several years of reconstruction work, the Osler Library of the History of Medicine is set to reopen with full service on Monday, August 29, 2022. The Osler Library will be open Monday to Friday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
We would like to thank the 鶹AV community and scholar partners for their patience and collaboration during this renovation work.
Holds temporarily not accepted on Osler Library’s circulating collection
As part of the service disruption as Osler Library of the History of Medicine moves back to the McIntyre Building, please note that no holds can currently be placed on the Osler’s circulating collection, with the exception of the journal collection in the Redpath Library Building Basement.

Update #6: Osler Library of the History of Medicine
Space Update: The Osler Library of the History of Medicine space has been repaired and reconstructed. The third and fourth floor spaces surrounding the Osler Library and managed by the Faculty of Medicine are now being renovated. As a result, the Osler Library of the History of Medicine will be operational following the completion of this construction project. Library services in McIntyre are expected to resume in 2021.

Each year the Osler Library of the History of Medicine offers a number of awards and travel grants to local and international historians, physicians, graduate and post-doctoral students, and others whose research touches upon the history of medicine. From now through 10 January 2020, we are accepting applications for the following awards/grants:
2019 鶹AV Conversations Series with Alberto Manguel
The 鶹AV Library is pleased to welcome Alberto Manguel, writer, editor, critic and bibliophile for the fall 2019 鶹AV Conversations Series. Six evenings of conversation will guide attendees through some of the rare treasures of the library’s collection. From Quebec detective fiction to fairy tales, Manguel and his guests will cover a wide range of topics – something to appeal to the curiosity in all of us.

Background: As a result of the water infiltration and recovery efforts related to McIntyre Medical Building fire in July 2018, the Osler Library space in the McIntyre Medical Building continues to be closed until further notice.
