Readmission
Students wishing to return to the University after an absence of part of an academic year or more must apply for readmission and provide official transcripts for any courses taken during that period. The online application will be available for fall term requests as of March 1st through the Student Records Menu once you have logged into Minerva.
If your most recent standing was unsatisfactory as indicated on Minerva, make sure to provide proof of any extenuating circumstances affecting your academic performance (e.g. medical documentation) along with a personal explanation.
If you have been in unsatisfactory standing more than once, you must also apply to the Committee on Academic Standing with all necessary documents.
Deadlines to apply for readmission into the Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences
- For fall term: August 15
- For winter term: December 15
Readmission to Dietetics is subject to French proficiency and GPA. See information below.
Transfers for Â鶹AV students
If you are a Â鶹AV student, have not graduated, and wish to transfer into another undergraduate faculty, you may apply using the Minerva Faculty Transfer/Readmission Menu.
Canadian non-Quebec resident students approved to transfer to another degree for fall 2024 will be subject to the new Canadian rate of tuition and will not be eligible for the Canada Award. For questions concerning the new fee rate please contact Service Point.
Minimum requirements to transfer into the Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences
Transfer applicants must have completed Calculus 1 for science along with at least 2 other basic science courses (biology, chemistry, and physics) to be considered for admission in a program in the Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences (excluding Dietetics). The remaining basic science courses will have to be completed based on the program requirements.
Any transfer or readmission to a program in the Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences requires a student to be in satisfactory standing. For the Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, Food Science, concurrent Food Science/Nutritional Sciences and Bioresource Engineering degrees, a minimum cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 2.7 is required.
B.Sc. (Nutritional Sciences)
Nutrition major
For the major in Nutrition, a minimum CGPA of 3.0 is required.
Dietetics major
Entry into the Dietetics program is competitive. Stage placements are a mandatory part of the program and as we must ensure that placements are available for all eligible students, the availability of stage placements limits the number of students admitted into the Dietetics program.
Students applying to transfer to the Dietetics program must have at least a 3.3 CGPA in a science program to be considered for admission. This CGPA is a minimum and it is likely that the final cutoff will be higher, depending on the number of places available (the CGPA cutoff was 3.60 for September 2022 and 3.31 for September 2023).
Evaluation process and priorities
- All students must have French proficiency.
- Students are ranked by CGPA.
- All previous university education may be taken into consideration.
- Science R Scores may be taken into consideration (for Quebec students).
- Applicants should have been carrying a full course load (at least 12 credits) for each term. Students taking required nutrition or core science courses will be given priority.
- Students who have completed all entrance science pre-requisites will be given priority.
- Letters of explanation and support will not be taken into consideration.
Even if you have already taken some of the required courses, the undergraduate Dietetics program takes 3.5 years to complete from the time of admission or transfer, due to the sequencing of the stages. Students cannot participate in the first stage course (NUTR 208), taken in the first term of U1, unless all prerequisite courses are completed beforehand, so students missing entrance prerequisites must do an additional year (4.5 years instead of 3.5 years).
Students who have already completed many required courses for the program may consider majoring in Nutrition at the undergrad level, and then applying for the M.Sc. Applied with Credentialling option as an alternate route to becoming a registered dietitian.
