Preclinical Internship in First Nations & Inuit Communities

Preclinical Internship - SUMMER 2024

The Preclinical Internship enables future physicians to acquire cultural competencies with respect to realities experienced among the First Nations Communities and Inuit villages and promotes and facilitates the access to knowledge regarding these settings. The participating communities in 2024 are:

  • Timiskaming/Kebaowek (Abitibi-Témiscamingue) (English)
  • Wemotaci/CAALT (Mauricie) (French)
  • Opitciwan (Mauricie) (French)
  • Kuujjuaq (Nunavik) (English)
  • ±Ê¾±°ì´Ç²µ²¹²ÔÌý(Abitibi-Témiscamingue) (mostly French and some English)

Duration & number of places

  • The duration of the training isÌý4 weeks fromÌýJuly 1Ìýto 26, 2024. Students must be available for the complete duration of the program.
  • 6 students areÌýparticipating in the 2024Ìýsummer pre-clinical internships.

Ìý

Lodging and Travel allowances

  • Lodging is provided by the communities.
  • Students receive a travel allowance for their displacement between the community and Montreal. For the student travelling to Kuujjuaq, flights are booked and paid by the site.


Mandatory workshop for students participating in the Preclinical Internships in First Nations and Inuits Communities

  • The pre-departure session on practical aspects of the internship will be given by the First Nations of Quebec and Labrador Health and Social Services Commission.
